How well can these clear small brush, saplings? No rocks where I live, and what blade choice do you recommend ?
If it's under 3/4" thickness the Flail Mower can do a very good job clearing saplings and shrubs. We have a few shorts we've posted showing it with those kinds of materials. For blades, you'd just use the standard/included Y-Blades for clearing shrubs and saplings.
Hell, It won't much more than cut yard grass lol. Sad excuse for a mower. That should fly through those light weeds
Get you some chains bro..💯👍🙂
I would think a slow steady speed would be better. ?
You get a better first pass but if you want a cleaner cut and plan on going back over it a second time, then the extra speed on the first pass doesn’t hurt as much.
Is this with the Y blades or with these hammer ones?
This is with the hammer blades.
How many tonnes of firewood could you produce in any given day please i know might even just a rough guess would be handy ta heaps, just a 8 hour day thanks heaps
Weight isn’t the best metric for measuring firewood because depending on the woods water content and species, you’ll get vastly different answers. We estimate 1-2 cord of firewood an hour, so 8-16 in an 8 hour day if you’re producing without any major interruptions. According to Google, a cord of firewood is usually 1+ tons. But I’m seeing answers anywhere from 1-2.5 tons per cord.
I would love to try to make a mount for this and use it on my excavator!!!
The number one thing we tell people who want to fabricate something for mounting is that there should be something in place to prevent downward pressure from being applied on the unit. Rammy has a customer that fabricated a mount that had a metal plate that rested under the snowblower, and the Rammy was connected to the plate instead of the hydraulic arm. That allowed them to press the plate against the ground without ever applying pressure directly to the snowblower. Food for thought if you ever decide to take a try at it.
As always thanks for watching! If you’d like to learn more about the Japa 365, visit our website: www.metsamachines.com/product/japa-365-firewood-processor/
Hi cameraman.... what do you want to show us? Just put the camera in front of the splitting tool. No need to see the people around. Thumb down!
Whoever behind the camera in this video is not the smart one
As with so many of these, they make sure they use perfect logs.
Though this splitter arrangement is less productive, it produces more consistently sized/shaped pieces.
Whatever happened with that Studly Lumberjack looking Bob dude that use to do your videos? I am not sure this fast talking City Slicker knows what he is doing! 🤠 P.S. The demolition derby car in the background was a nice touch!👍
Bob no longer works with Metsa Machines.
What's the cost difference between this barrel cleaner and the disk style cleaner that Japa offers?
This is currently $4,000 less than Japa’s disc style cleaner.
Your bags are about 0.92 cubic foot each. I sell 0.75 cubic foot bundles for $8.00 each. It works out to $1,365 per cord. I sell a 4 inch bundle of kindling for $4.00. Most buyers take 2 bundles of firewood and one bundle of kindling and drop $20 in the cash box. There is a 50 site campground on my road, 2 more campgrounds in this town and about 200 lakefront vacation rental houses, most with outdoor fire pits. Last summer I sold 9 cords and ran out on August 11. This year I'm starting with 12 cords.
I really do think I want to try to sell bundles. Thanks for this video.
Nice Wolfe ridge bagging station speeds it up a bit!
А от таких дров есть "толк"?
Big chunky stuff
Alrighty i just have to get this
Your video editor didn't do you any favours at the beginning of the video. 😁 Most firewood people don't realize that processing smaller diameter logs still produces a good amount of firewood quickly. Anything in the 8 to 12" diameter range would be ideal for most processors in this class.
That was just the order the logs came off the rack. We definitely had the best logs towards the end of the video though.
Hey, Was this with Y or Hammer blades? Thanks
This was with the Y-Blades.
@@MetsaMachines Ok, so everything being equal, if you went over it at the same speed, same day but had hammers instead, which type would you say would have yielded a finer finish? Or how would you say one is different than the other? Ty
The hammer blades are flat and wide blades, whereas the Y-Blades form the Y shape for mulching. We do have a video showing the hammer blades on a lawn: ruclips.net/video/NSypRydI0LU/видео.html You can get a very clean cut with the hammer blades. The Y-Blades have the potential for more variation because of the gap in the Y, but they work better on thicker grass/material. With really tall grass like this, we would recommend the Y-Blades first and then the Hammer blades to keep it more manicured. The best course of action would be to knock down the fields/trails you want to maintain, and then swap over to the hammer blades to avoid going back and forth between the different blades.
7:15 - the band roll on the left side isnt rolling. This causes problems with the straightness of the cut. Have you had this problem often?
We haven't used the mill much recently, but we did realize our tension on the blade was off and that was causing various issues. We are hoping to do more with the mill in the future.
I googled it and it says that the gravely atlas is 63 inches wide. isn't the 155 blower about 61 inches wide? Is it a problem that the utv is wider by about an inch on each side?
We haven't had any issues using it with the Gravely (ignoring the fact that we don't have a windshield on it). That being said, we typically recommend going slightly larger than your ATV/UTV if possible.
Espectacular!!💪💪
That trailer is going to be junk very shortly from that abuse

You can find our dealers online here: www.metsamachines.com/dealers/japa-firewood-processor-dealers/
what gauge is the bed made from? thanks
The trailer is made out of 1.5 mm thick steel, so about 16 gauge.
thanks
What do they weigh ?
The snow model's dry weight is 185 lbs.
Works ok on light powder snow. They have the 90 thousands tractor with the two stage for the wet heavy snow.
What is the max diameter for the 435 and does Japa make a bigger machine??
Max is 17 inches and currently that is their largest machine.
I have been looking into a machine like this for my business and I wondering if it could have a 10 12 way wedge with the sizes of 2.5 inches x 2.5 inches squares? Thanks 🙏 by the way what is the size of the 8 way wedge?
We do not offer a 10 or 12 way perfect split knife, but the largest pieces you see in the 6-way knife are at 3.5-4 inches, at the longest point. So the 8-way will be very close to the size you are looking for.
@@MetsaMachines Thanks 🙏
Awesome machine but that price can’t touch it
Was wondering what kind of price is on the machine you’re running
We’ve got pricing for the different configurations online here: www.metsamachines.com/product/japa-365-firewood-processor/
Just found your channel what part of Wisconsin are you at I am from the northern part of the state forest county . Looks like a nice machine
Thanks for watching! We are located near Merrill.
How did you transport this splitter to the job site? Did you trailer it or tow it? I would be concerned about trailer sway at hwy speed.
The stationary model would be trailered. The towable version can go down the Highway. We always recommend a log lift with the towable units because it makes them more functional for mobile processing, but the loglift also adds tongue weight which helps reduce sway. For reference, the 315 has been towed several hours away by a Jeep Cherokee without any issues.
Nice video. I want one. Don't have any place to put it.
A good tool for a homeowner to rent a few days and make the needed amount for winter. Pro tools are different. This is good for its job.
Hey Ryan great video 😊
Glad you enjoyed it, thanks for watching!
Bobs at Wolferidge now
Were is Bob??? LOL!!
Hey Ryan! Nice to see a video been a while!!👍👍
Good to see more videos on the Japa processors. It's been a while since the last one on this channel.
It’s been too long since we’ve posted last and we plan on becoming more active again. Thanks for watching!
I have a Cub Cadet Big Country 6x4 very similar to the John Deer Gator 6x4 and was wondering if the cutter could be mounted on it? Thanks
Does this use the hammer flail or the Y flail
The Y-Blades which come with the mower were used here.
Whichever it is he needs to switch them lol
How much horsepower between standard and pro?
The pro is a 420 cc engine, while the standard is a 306 cc engine. Moving forward, we are only offering the Pro option since that is by far the preferred option.
I am considering purchasing this but wondered if there is a way for straps to hold brush or firewood. I didn't see hooks on the top rail and there is no information regarding straps on your website. Thanks
There are lips around the edge of the trailer which you could use for smaller straps. There aren't any loops or designated strap connections points, though.
What type of wood is that in the video
Predominantly ash, we get a lot of it in Wisconsin.
Can you adjust height with a winch?
The winch is meant to raise and lower the unit for transportation. While it is possible to raise it higher with the winch, doing so on uneven terrain where the unit may bounce a lot can increase the risk of the strap/cable breaking. It's important to go slow when the unit is suspended.
Cool. Can you adjust the height with a winch?
How much ?
